Visited Baldos on July 12, 2014. Food was a bit above average, as was the service. We had a New York steak and a beef fajitas plate. Nice sweet crisp and not greasy tortilla chips and good salsa were brought out to start. Steak was a bit grisly but good flavor. Enjoyed the seasoned fries. Nice touch to add fresh sliced mushrooms to fajitas, and to heat the plates so food stayed hot longer. Prices were OK, $11 for the steak and $11 for the fajitas. Fair, not a great deal. Would have been 4 stars, but there was an issue with the check that wasn't handled well. We ate half the tortilla chips and ran out of salsa (it was in a tiny bowl, inadequate amount for the chip basket). We asked for a refill, which we got, but on the check we were charged $1.95 extra for the extra tablespoon-full of salsa we received. I asked about the charge and expressed my unhappiness that we were charged for a tiny bit of extra salsa. Waiter said it was for "extra chips and salsa" -- well, we got no extra chips and a dab of salsa for $1.95, so not very happy. You should be happy with your meal, but watch out for being nickel and dimed at Baldos.

Ordered a couple taco plates pulled pork and the pork pineapple and we loved them. Good to have some authentic Mexican food in a fast friendly restaurant. You pay a little more, but all seems worth it when you have finished. Safe to say best food I have found in the area.

Authentic Mexican food! Not the standard run of the mill burritos, enchiladas, or tacos americanos! This is definitely a locals joint. Come here often and the owner, Ubaldo, will greet you from the kitchen. First time here, well, prepare for a great experience none-the-less! The salsa is good , but the pico de gallo and whole beans are the best dip for your wonderful chip (up charges). Recommended are the fiesta carnitas, carnitas en el cazo, asada tacos, and steak ranchero norteno! Also, the chili rellanos...INCREDIBLE! Excellent service! If you are there for lunch, just get the buffet, and don't let the cardiologist in your brain convince you to skip the chicharonnes ( fried pork cracklings).

This is a great family owned place! The buffet is awesome, a good variety including fresh salad . My husband loved the menudo. Clean, neat and friendly staff. A good surprise in a small town!!!

Everything about this place was terrible. We went for dinner over Memorial Day weekend. This is the only Mexican restaurant I have ever been to that doesn't serve alcohol. The service was a bit on the slow side. One of us ordered the chile rellenos, which weren't very tasty. Two of us ordered burritos. The menu said the burritos came with sour cream and guacamole, but when they arrived, they had neither. The server told us they weren't included with the meal. We did ask another server for them, and she brought them out for us. Fortunately, there was no extra charge. Unfortunately, the guac and green chile were a weird and unnatural shade of green and tasted weird. I would never go back here; I'd rather just eat at the local DQ Grill and Chill.

Buffet with wide selection & fresh food, salad bar. Informal cafe, nice service. Salsa, ceviche, guacamole all good. Sopapillas heavy and disappointing, but then who needs them?

This place is a hidden gem!! We stopped in based on yelp and google reviews, as we were passing through town. We had no idea what to expect. They offered us the lunch buffet, and we were sooo happy for some fresh veggies and fruit! They have a full salad bar, several fruit options, and dessert options, in addition to all of your mexican food favorites - rolled tacos, make-your-own-tacos, chile rellenos, enchiladas, rice & beans, and then a few other things, like steak and potatoes, ribs, etc. I didn't try everything, but what I had was tasty and flavorful. If you have room, definitely have a sopapilla with some honey. My husband had to talk me out of a second one, they were SO good. If we ever happen to pass through this way again, we'll definitely stop. And everyone there was SO polite and friendly. A huge plus.

I don't understand why this place has so many good reviews, unless the reviewers have never tried decent Mexican food before. This place was pretty terrible. Watered down, flavorless salsa. "Guacamole" with not a hint of real avocado. It seemed like it can out of a can or something. Their green chile sauce was also bizarre with a bright lime green color...also seemed like it came out of a can. They don't even have a liquor license. Pretty lame to not even be able to get a Corona at a Mexican restaurant.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
